Jasper County, TX (October 17, 2025) – A serious chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles left four people injured Wednesday afternoon on State Highway 62, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Per reports from Texas DPS, the multi-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. on October 15, near County Road 826, about nine miles south of Buna. A 2020 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling northbound on the highway, followed by a 2013 Honda Odyssey.
As the Chevrolet began turning left onto County Road 826, the Honda attempted to pass and collided with the driver’s side of the Chevrolet. The impact caused the Honda to veer into a nearby parking lot, striking a parked Nissan Rogue. That vehicle was then pushed into a Mazda CX-9.
Rita Caillier, 56, of Orange, was driving the Honda and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Baptist Hospital. The Chevrolet driver, a 42-year-old Jasper woman, was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two people inside the Nissan Rogue were also hurt. A 78-year-old woman from Orange suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Houston hospital, while another adult occupant was treated in Beaumont for non-life-threatening injuries.
A 33-year-old Buna woman inside the Mazda was uninjured.
