Chelan, WA (October 20, 2025) – A devastating head-on crash along Highway 97 near Chelan left six people injured on Saturday afternoon, including four children, according to state authorities.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred October 18 on a stretch of Highway 97 that runs alongside the Columbia River. A 22-year-old man from Seattle was traveling southbound when he reportedly crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on.
The Seattle man sustained injuries and was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. The other vehicle, driven by a 31-year-old Bridgeport woman, was carrying four young passengers, aged 10, 10, 11, and 14.
Three of the children, along with the woman, were transported to Chelan Hospital. One of the 10-year-olds was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle due to more serious injuries.
