La Mesa, CA (October 28, 2025) – A chain-reaction collision involving multiple vehicles left one person dead and four others injured in the early hours of Sunday morning on State Route 125.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on October 26 in the northbound lanes of SR 125 near the intersection with Spring Street. Authorities say a Nissan Sentra, carrying a 26-year-old passenger, was traveling northbound when it veered onto the right shoulder and slammed into a stationary 2007 Mercedes E350 that had three occupants.
The impact pushed the Nissan into the roadway, where it blocked several lanes of traffic. Moments later, a 2022 Ford Edge crashed into the disabled Nissan.
Tragically, the 26-year-old passenger in the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The Mercedes occupants and the Ford driver were taken to area hospitals with reported minor injuries. One person from the Nissan fled the crash site on foot. The investigation remains ongoing.
