According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 4:15 a.m. on October 26 in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near the Peninsula Avenue exit. Authorities said a BMW sedan was traveling at an unknown speed when it struck a concrete barrier along the freeway off-ramp.
The force of the collision caused the BMW to vault off the ramp and land on the city streets below.
The driver, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released by officials.
