According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident took place around 7:15 a.m. on October 29 near the intersection of Mercury Mine Road and Farm to Market Road 1472. Authorities say a red vehicle made a U-turn, failed to yield at a stop sign, and collided with a black Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan received treatment on site before being transported to Doctors Hospital for additional medical care.
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Jose Saul Gomez-Montoya, fled the crash on foot. Police located him hiding behind a barrel and placed him under arrest. He was charged with accident involving injury and cited for multiple violations, including driving without a license and failure to maintain financial responsibility. He was booked and later released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
