Tucson, AZ (November 22, 2025) – A woman struck by a vehicle earlier this month while crossing a Tucson intersection in a wheelchair has died from her injuries, authorities confirmed.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred on November 8 at the intersection of Orange Grove Road and La Cholla Boulevard. Cathy Spears, 59, was in the crosswalk in a wheelchair when she was struck by a Toyota Corolla that had the green light.
Spears sustained critical injuries and was taken to a hospital where she remained in serious condition. She was pronounced deceased on November 19.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as 68-year-old Margaret Zirnheld, was uninjured and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
