Socorro, TX (May 29, 2025) – A head-on crash in Socorro claimed the life of one driver and left another injured on Tuesday afternoon, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, the deadly collision occurred at around 4:40 p.m. on May 27 in the 1100 block of Horizon Boulevard. Authorities say 47-year-old Marco Jimenez was driving a Kia southbound when he began changing lanes erratically. He reportedly lost control, crossed the raised median, and slammed head-on into a Ford pickup truck traveling northbound.
Jimenez was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Ford pickup was also hospitalized but is expected to recover, as their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Deputies and investigators remained at the scene for several hours, and the incident is still under active investigation.
