Abbeville, LA (June 4, 2025) — A single-vehicle crash in Vermilion Parish late Friday night tragically claimed the lives of two men.
According to reports, the collision occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 14 near Fore Road. Louisiana State Police stated that 69-year-old Brian Mayard of Abbeville was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Corvette westbound at a high rate of speed. For reasons still under investigation, the Corvette veered off the right side of the roadway, entered a ditch, struck a culvert, and overturned.
Both Mayard and his passenger, 45-year-old Guy McNeil of Youngsville, were unrestrained at the time of the crash. They sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities collected standard toxicology samples for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
