Islip, NY (July 26, 2026) – Six people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of Union Boulevard and Islip Avenue in Islip on the evening of Thursday, July 23. Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection shortly before 9 p.m. after reports of a serious crash involving two sedans.
According to the New York State Police, Suffolk County police said the collision involved a 2004 Buick sedan and a 2023 Honda sedan. Firefighters from the Islip Fire Department and Exchange Ambulance of the Islips responded to the scene, where crews used the Hurst rescue tool to free one trapped driver from a vehicle.
Authorities said the Buick was occupied by a 57-year-old man from Commack who was driving and a 48-year-old male passenger. Both were transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Honda was driven by a 74-year-old Islip man. His three passengers, including a 62-year-old man, a 57-year-old woman, and a 58-year-old woman, were also taken to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. In total, six people were hurt in the crash.
