Fresno County, CA (July 25, 2026) – Two women lost their lives, and four other people were injured following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection near Millerton Lake on Thursday afternoon, July 23.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Auberry Road and Old Millerton Road.
Investigators said an 18-year-old woman from Clovis was driving a Toyota sedan when the vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a Nissan sedan driven by an 88-year-old man from Prather. The force of the impact pushed both vehicles off the roadway and into an embankment.
Authorities identified the victims as Yvonne Cheney, 88, of Auberry, who was a passenger in the Nissan, and Nellie Moreno, 94, who was a passenger in the Toyota. Cheney died at the scene, while Moreno later died after being transported to a hospital.
