Pike Creek, DE (July 28, 2026) – A sanitation worker suffered serious injuries Monday morning after falling from a garbage truck and being run over while working in a Pike Creek neighborhood.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident happened at approximately 10 a.m. on July 27 in the Pepper Ridge townhouse community on Pepper Ridge Court.
New Castle County Police said the 38-year-old sanitation worker fell from a trash truck during collection operations before being run over by the vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel from New Castle County EMS responded to the scene and provided immediate treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, the worker was airlifted to Christiana Hospital by a Delaware State Police helicopter.
Authorities reported the man sustained two broken legs and was listed in serious condition.
