Bridgeton, NJ (Aug. 13, 2025) – A man riding a motorized scooter suffered life-threatening injuries Monday night after being hit by a suspected drunk driver in Cumberland County.
According to reports, the 57-year-old Salem resident was traveling near the intersection of Route 49 and South East Avenue in Bridgeton around 8:30 p.m. on August 11 when a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old man from Millville struck him. Authorities said the impact threw the victim from his scooter, causing him to lose consciousness.
Emergency crews transported the man to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment of serious head injuries. He remains in critical condition. Police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and also took him into custody on unrelated warrants.
