San Francisco, CA (January 24, 2026) – A tragic workplace accident at San Francisco International Airport claimed the life of a 28-year-old airport employee on Sunday, January 18.
According to the California Highway Patrol and airport officials, John Brandon Picazo Lacayanga was killed when a cargo pallet he was towing crushed the vehicle he was operating near Terminal 3 and International Boarding Area G. Emergency crews responded around 7:00 p.m., but Lacayanga was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lacayanga was employed by dnata (Dubai National Air Travel Agency), which handles ground and cargo operations at the airport. Officials confirmed no other vehicles were involved, and Lacayanga was alone at the time of the incident. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and OSHA later determined the incident to be a tragic accident.
He was a San Francisco resident, survived by his parents, Hospicio and Mary Jane Lacayanga.
