Albuquerque, NM (May 29, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck early Tuesday morning is under investigation by the Albuquerque Police Department.
According to reports, the collision occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on May 27 at the intersection of 98th Street and Avalon Road. Police say a white Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading south on 98th Street at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light at the intersection.
At the same time, a semi-truck was attempting to turn left from eastbound Avalon Road onto northbound 98th Street under a green arrow. The motorcycle collided with the side of the semi’s trailer. The impact proved fatal, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the rider has not yet been released.
There were no indications of impairment on the part of the truck driver, and investigators cite excessive speed and failure to obey the traffic signal as contributing factors. The crash remains under investigation.
