Long Beach, CA (October 26, 2025) – Authorities have identified the bicyclist who died following a fatal collision with a car earlier this month in Long Beach. The victim was 35-year-old Augustin Gallopa, a resident of Long Beach.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6 near the intersection of East Fourth Street and Bonito Avenue. Gallopa was riding his bicycle eastbound on Fourth Street and attempted to turn north onto Bonito Avenue when he was struck by a 2021 BMW 330i.
The BMW was being driven by 24-year-old Ahkeyajahnique Owens of Long Beach, who was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when the collision occurred. Gallopa suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
