According to reports, the crash occurred on August 13 along the westbound lanes of I-64, just west of Shell Road in Newport News. Authorities said the impact of the collision was severe enough to dislodge the vehicle’s engine block and tires, which scattered across the roadway.
Emergency responders confirmed the driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The wreck also caused an oil spill that required immediate response from Hampton fire crews. Meanwhile, the Virginia Department of Transportation managed traffic control and diverted westbound vehicles at Deep Creek Road.
