Evaro, MT (January 5, 2025) – A devastating four-vehicle crash on US Highway 93 near Evaro claimed the lives of two individuals and left another injured Friday afternoon.
The Montana Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at mile marker 5 around 3:56 p.m. on January 3. Involved vehicles included a DS 379, a GMC Sierra, an International MV607, and a Chrysler Town & Country.
The incident began when the trailer of the DS 379 jackknifed, crossing into oncoming traffic. The GMC Sierra collided with the trailer, resulting in fatal injuries to its driver, a 19-year-old man from Columbia Falls, Montana, and a female passenger. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
The International MV607, driven by a 26-year-old from Ronan, Montana, attempted to stop but struck the trailer, causing the DS 379 to spin off the road. A Chrysler Town & Country driven by a 55-year-old Ronan resident then hit the trailer.
The driver of the DS 379 sustained unspecified injuries, while the drivers of the International MV607 and Chrysler Town & Country were unharmed.
Road conditions at the time were wet, icy, and slushy, contributing to the crash. Authorities do not suspect alcohol, drugs, or excessive speed were factors.
