Imperial County, CA (October 22, 2025) – A 4-year-old girl was killed in a tragic off-road crash involving a Can-Am utility vehicle Saturday evening in Imperial County, and a man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m. on October 18 along State Route 78 near Old Mine Road. Authorities say a 36-year-old man was operating a 2024 Can-Am Maverick in an open desert area east of the highway when the vehicle struck a raised dirt berm.
The impact caused the Can-Am to overturn, ejecting the young passenger. The girl, whose name has not yet been publicly released, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
