Gaffney, SC (July 1, 2026) – A man injured in a three vehicle crash on Interstate 85 in Cherokee County has died from his injuries days after the collision, according to the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol , the crash occurred on Friday, June 26, near mile marker 96 on Interstate 85 in Gaffney. Authorities said Charles Scott Glatzer, of Hendersonville, was driving a 2009 Porsche southbound when his vehicle was sideswiped by a tractor trailer. The initial impact reportedly pushed the Porsche into the path of another vehicle, resulting in a T bone collision.
Rescue crews worked to free Glatzer after he became trapped inside the damaged Porsche. Once extricated, he was airlifted to Spartanburg Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, Glatzer died from his injuries at approximately 2:03 a.m. on Sunday, June 28.
