Vacaville, CA (January 11, 2026) – One woman is dead and another man was hospitalized following a wrong-way head-on collision Wednesday evening on Interstate 505 just north of Allendale Road in Solano County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 6:00 p.m. on January 7. A gold Toyota Prius, driven by a female motorist, was reportedly traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes of I-505 when it collided head-on with a Subaru Forester heading southbound.
The impact caused the Subaru to flip onto its side, trapping the male driver inside. Emergency crews responded quickly, extricated the driver from the wreckage, and transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment. The woman driving the Prius was pronounced deceased at the scene.
CHP closed I-505 South for nearly two and a half hours to conduct a thorough on-site investigation. The roadway was reopened shortly after 8:30 p.m.
