Bovina, TX (September 26, 2026) – A three-vehicle crash at State Highway 86 and State Highway 214 left 59-year-old Timothy James Holst dead and two other people injured on Wednesday afternoon, September 23. The collision occurred at approximately 2 p.m. while roads in the area were wet.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Ford Expedition traveling east on State Highway 86 entered the intersection and collided with a tractor-trailer traveling south on State Highway 214. Investigators reported that the Expedition had entered the intersection without yielding at a stop sign.
The impact forced the southbound tractor-trailer into the northbound lanes, where it collided with another tractor-trailer driven by Holst, a resident of Rowley, Iowa. During the crash, the southbound trailer detached and came to rest on top of the northbound truck.
Holst suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ford Expedition driver, identified as 30-year-old Shayanne Marie Clover of Garden City, Kansas, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Parmer County Community Hospital. Authorities said she was expected to be airlifted to UMC in Lubbock when weather conditions permitted.
Jose Omar Cano, 51, of Olton, who was driving the southbound tractor-trailer, suffered minor injuries. The intersection was closed while emergency crews assisted those involved and investigators examined the scene. The Texas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal accident.
