According to the California Highway Patrol , the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on September 22. Authorities said an 18-year-old man was driving a white Hyundai sedan southbound on San Pedro Street with a juvenile passenger when the Hyundai entered the intersection and struck the rear of an eastbound Freightliner tractor-trailer.
