Bourbon County, KS (October 9, 2026) – Two men suffered serious injuries early Thursday morning, October 8, when a semi-truck overturned multiple times along U.S. Highway 69 in Bourbon County. The accident occurred around 12:14 a.m. near milepost 69.2, approximately 0.2 miles north of Osage Road.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2014 Freightliner semi-truck was traveling southbound when it left the roadway to the left before returning to the highway. An overcorrection caused the truck to rotate, enter the center median, and overturn several times. The vehicle crossed the northbound lanes before coming to rest upright on the northbound shoulder.
Jordy M. Martinez-Arvelo, 22, of Temple Terrace, Florida, sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. A second male occupant, whose identity was not provided, also suffered suspected serious injuries and was taken to Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.
Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. Authorities had not determined which individual was driving.
The semi-truck’s trailer separated during the crash. Dave’s Towing and Recovery removed both the truck and trailer from the scene.
