Marion County, OR (October 3, 2025) – A suspected drunk driving crash outside Gervais claimed the life of a Salem man and left two others injured, according to authorities.
According to the Oregon State Police, the fatal rollover occurred on September 29, 2025, near the 7200 block of St. Louis Road Northeast in North Marion County. Wilfrido Giron-Cortes Jr., 33, of Woodburn, was driving a black Ford Ranger when the vehicle flipped over.
One of the passengers, Juan Garibo, 27, was critically injured and airlifted to Salem Hospital, where he later died. Two other passengers sustained serious injuries, including a broken neck and a leg fracture.
Deputies confirmed Giron-Cortes had a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit. Open alcohol containers were found in the vehicle. He was arrested on October 2 and faces multiple charges including Manslaughter I, DUII, Reckless Driving, and Assault. He is scheduled for arraignment on October 3, 2025.
