According to the San Antonio Police Department, the crash occurred around 3:15 a.m. on August 29 in the 16300 block of Wurzbach Parkway near Starcrest Drive. Investigators say a vehicle driven by Ruben Perez was traveling the wrong way when it collided head-on with Mangum’s car.
Mangum was pronounced dead at the scene. Perez was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and was later arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter after tests confirmed he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
