Bakersfield, CA (October 31, 2025) – A deadly head-on collision in Bakersfield claimed the life of 38-year-old Luis Manuel Galvez Nido early Tuesday morning, October 28. The crash occurred at approximately 5:42 a.m. on Highway 58, just east of Bussell Road, according to officials.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Nido was driving a Jeep westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 58 when he collided head-on with a Chrysler traveling east. The Chrysler was driven by a 50-year-old woman from Arizona.
Luis Galvez Nido, a Bakersfield resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver sustained injuries and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment. CHP reported that alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.
