Midland, TX (September 23, 2025) – A Houston woman was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident early Friday morning in Midland, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 6:40 a.m. on September 19 at the intersection of Business 20 and County Road 1250. Authorities say 53-year-old Maria Ajayi was crossing the roadway in a northbound direction when she was hit by a 2021 Mazda CX-5 traveling east in the left lane of Business 20.
The driver, identified as 44-year-old Jesse Lee Rodriguez of Odessa, reportedly attempted to avoid striking Ajayi but was unable to. She was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Rodriguez was uninjured in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by state authorities.
