Durham, ME (June 22, 2025) – A motorcyclist died Saturday evening following a collision with a dump truck on Hallowell Road in Durham, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, the deadly crash occurred around 6:12 p.m. on June 22 near the 1100 block of Hallowell Road. Authorities say 32-year-old Coplin Fickett of Durham was riding a 1986 Suzuki LS650 northbound when a 2025 Peterbilt 589 dump truck pulled out from the Jaiden Landscaping gravel pit and attempted a southbound turn, crossing into Fickett’s lane.
Fickett reportedly tried to lay the motorcycle down to avoid the truck but was unable to stop in time and struck the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The dump truck was operated by a 24-year-old man from Pownal and is owned by Moon Construction Services LLC. The driver was not injured.
Multiple agencies, including a crash reconstruction unit, responded and are continuing the investigation.
