Johnson County, KS (October 9, 2026) – Two people were injured Thursday night, October 8, following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in Johnson County. The accident occurred at approximately 10:28 p.m. near mile marker 226.4, just north of U.S. Highway 69.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2016 Ram 1500 was traveling northbound in the third lane while a 2016 Toyota Corolla was traveling in the fourth lane. The Ram reportedly changed lanes and sideswiped the Toyota, causing its driver to lose control and strike the right barrier wall.
The Toyota’s driver, 22-year-old Michael Steve Flores-Orellana of Overland Park, and passenger, 35-year-old Karla Esmeralda Flores-Orellana, also of Overland Park, sustained suspected minor injuries. Both were transported to AdventHealth Shawnee Mission for treatment.
The Ram’s driver, 64-year-old Randall Lee Livingston of Spring Hill, Missouri, was not injured. All three occupants were reportedly wearing seat belts.
The Toyota was removed from the scene by PK Towing. Authorities documented the collision as an injury crash, with no hit-and-run or police pursuit involved.
