Perris, CA (August 19, 2026) – A 24-year-old Moreno Valley woman, identified as Valerie Martinez, was killed early August 16 in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 215 in Perris. The collision occurred in the northbound lanes north of Ramona Expressway at approximately 12:20 a.m. and involved a 2008 Mazda 3 and a 2015 Ford Explorer.
According to the California Highway Patrol , the preliminary investigation indicated that the Mazda was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control, left the roadway, and struck the center median guardrail. The Mazda overturned onto its roof and came to rest in the leftmost northbound lane, where the Ford Explorer subsequently struck it.
Martinez, an occupant of the Mazda, was ejected during the crash sequence and sustained fatal injuries. Another occupant of the Mazda suffered moderate injuries. The two people traveling in the Ford were not injured. CHP reported that alcohol was a factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
