Santa Maria, CA (November 27, 2025) – A woman was killed Monday night following a high-speed crash in Santa Maria that occurred shortly after officers discontinued a pursuit due to safety concerns.
According to the Santa Maria Police Department , the incident began just after 10 p.m. on November 25, when officers responded to reports of a reckless driver and located a white Jeep traveling erratically near Blosser Road and Cook Street.
Officers briefly pursued the vehicle, but the chase was called off less than a minute later near Stowell Road and Western Avenue. Despite this, the driver continued eastbound on Stowell Road, reportedly running red lights and traveling at a high rate of speed.
Minutes later, the Jeep collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Stowell Road and Bradley Road. The woman driving the Jeep was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicle were not hurt.
Her identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification. Both Santa Maria PD and the California Highway Patrol are investigating.
