Kaufman County, TX (July 29, 2026) – Three members of the same family were killed late Sunday night after a disabled passenger vehicle was struck from behind by a commercial truck along U.S. Highway 80 in Kaufman County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety the crash occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. on July 26 on eastbound U.S. Highway 80, east of Windmill Farms Boulevard between Forney and Terrell. Investigators said a 2013 Hyundai passenger car had become disabled in the right lane when an 18-wheeler traveling eastbound was unable to avoid the stalled vehicle and struck it from behind.
The impact forced the Hyundai over a concrete bridge railing and into the area below. The driver of the Hyundai, 38-year-old Vanecia Deshun Williams, and her daughters, 14-year-old Sa’niah Williams and 9-year-old A’veonia Williams, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
Emergency crews closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 80 for approximately seven and a half hours while investigators documented the scene and heavy-duty wreckers removed the damaged vehicles. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
