Brown County, TX (November 5, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash claimed the life of an 18-year-old Lampasas resident Saturday afternoon on a stretch of US Highway 377 in Brown County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred around 2:44 p.m. on November 1 at milepost 432. Brayden Lynn Baldwin was driving a 2017 GMC southbound when he lost control of the vehicle on the rain-slicked highway. After veering off the right side of the road, Baldwin attempted to correct course, but his vehicle skidded across the southbound lanes and into the path of a northbound 2024 Freightliner truck tractor hauling a semi-trailer.
The resulting crash ignited the GMC, trapping Baldwin inside. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities confirmed he had been wearing his seatbelt.
The Freightliner’s driver, 49-year-old James Chadwick Hardy of Garland, suffered minor injuries and was also wearing a seatbelt.
