Pacoima, CA (October 5, 2025) – A fiery solo-vehicle crash claimed one life early Saturday morning on the southbound 5 Freeway in Pacoima.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 3:17 a.m. on October 5, along the transition road from southbound Interstate 5 to southbound Highway 170. A black Honda Accord traveling south reportedly collided with the center divider, crossed all lanes of traffic, and struck a tree on the right shoulder.
Following the impact, the car plunged into a ditch and caught fire. Flames spread to the nearby tree, fully engulfing the crash scene. Emergency responders arrived to find the vehicle ablaze, and one person inside was pronounced dead at the scene.
