According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol , a 2009 Toyota sedan was traveling east on Okatie Highway near Oldfield Way when a 2019 Infiniti QX50 was traveling west in the eastbound lanes. Authorities reported that the Infiniti struck the Toyota head on. The driver of the Toyota, identified as Michael Blankenship Jr. of Ridgeland, died at the scene.
