Concord Township, PA (May 11, 2026) – An 81 year old Erie man lost his life Friday afternoon following a violent two vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 89 and Lovell Road near Corry in Concord Township.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police , the fatal accident happened shortly after 1:50 p.m. on May 8 at the intersection of Route 89 and Lovell Road. Investigators identified the deceased driver as Benjamin T. Ewiak Jr., who was operating a 2013 Honda CRV northbound on Route 89 when the collision occurred.
Authorities said a 19 year old woman driving a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on Lovell Road reportedly entered the intersection from a stop sign and struck the Honda CRV. Police stated Route 89 does not have stop signs at the intersection.
Following the impact, Ewiak’s Honda traveled into a ditch and rolled over multiple times before coming to rest upright facing west along Route 89. Investigators confirmed Ewiak was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Officials noted he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was not injured in the accident. As of May 11, no charges had been filed in connection with the crash as Pennsylvania State Police continue their investigation.
