Robeson Township, PA (July 26, 2026) – A tragic three vehicle crash on Interstate 176 in Berks County claimed the lives of two Reading men and left another driver with serious injuries on the morning of Friday, July 24.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the collision occurred shortly after 6 a.m. near Exit 7 for Green Hills on the southbound side of Interstate 176 in Robeson Township. Investigators said a vehicle driven by a 44 year old Coatesville man attempted to change from the right lane into the left lane when it struck another vehicle occupied by three Reading residents.

Police reported that the impacted vehicle left the roadway, entered the grassy median, struck an embankment, and became airborne before crashing into a bridge abutment. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its roof in a ravine beneath the bridge.

Authorities identified the victims who died at the scene as 18 year old Jose Cueva Sosa and 20 year old Jose E. Uribe, both of Reading. The driver of the vehicle, 44 year old Leandro Cortorreal Sosa of Reading, suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported to Reading Hospital for treatment.

Investigators said the striking vehicle remained on the southbound roadway after the initial impact before colliding with a third vehicle. The occupants of the third vehicle were not injured.

The driver from Coatesville, identified as 44 year old Paul Villanueva, was not hurt in the crash. State police arrested him at the scene and charged him with homicide by vehicle and related offenses. The investigation remains ongoing.
