Durham, NC (July 28, 2026) – A fatal pedestrian crash shut down part of Interstate 885 in Durham late Monday night after a person was struck by multiple vehicles on the northbound side of the highway.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, officers responded to the scene just before 11:30 p.m. on July 27 along the northbound lanes of Interstate 885 between the Holloway Street and Cheek Road exits.
Investigators said the pedestrian was first hit by the driver of a Nissan Versa while in the middle lane of the interstate. Police reported that the victim was then run over by at least two additional vehicles that did not remain at the scene.
