La Mesa, CA (November 5, 2025) – Authorities have identified the man killed in a multi-vehicle collision that injured four others late last month in La Mesa. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the deceased as 26-year-old Roberto Gil Jimenez Jr. of San Diego.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on October 26 in the northbound lanes of State Route 125 at Spring Street. Jimenez Jr. was a passenger in a Nissan Sentra when the vehicle struck the rear of a 2007 Mercedes E350, which was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway with three occupants inside.
After the collision, the Nissan came to rest blocking multiple lanes. A 2022 Ford Edge was unable to stop in time and slammed into the disabled vehicle.
Jimenez Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual in the Nissan reportedly fled on foot. The occupants of the Mercedes and the Ford sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
CHP is investigating the crash and has asked any witnesses to contact the El Cajon Area Office.
