Sonora, CA (October 2, 2025) – A tragic solo-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Sonora woman Tuesday evening along a stretch of Highway 108, west of Peaceful Oak Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. on September 30. Maryah Genevieve-Estella, 29, of Sonora, was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle westbound on Highway 108 when she veered across the eastbound lane and off the south side of the road. The vehicle overturned on the shoulder.
Genevieve-Estella, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected during the crash. Witnesses rushed to render aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
