Corpus Christi, TX (July 26, 2026) – Authorities have identified the man who lost his life in a rear-end collision on State Highway 44 in Corpus Christi Wednesday evening.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, at the intersection of State Highway 44 and County Road 338.
Investigators identified the victim as Adam Chapa, 36. Authorities reported that Chapa was driving a 2002 GMC 1500 westbound on State Highway 44 when he stopped to make a left turn onto County Road 338. A westbound 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 50-year-old woman, struck the rear of the GMC.
Chapa sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two male passengers riding in the GMC, ages 27 and 36, were injured in the collision and transported to Christus Spohn Hospital for treatment.
